NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation

$70 each student (plus $25 Range fee)

Prerequisites: None

Length of course: 3 hours

Course goal: “To provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to own and use a specific rifle model safely.”
This course is designed for people who are interested in learning a specific model rifle they wish to purchase. It is not a complete rifle course but the student will receive a thorough introduction to firearm safety, handling, and shooting skills. The student is encouraged to obtain more comprehensive training provided by the NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course.
Required Materials for students: Firearm, 50 rds of ammo, pen and highlighter. Firearm can be rented for $10 and ammo will be provided if student does not own a rifle. DO NOT BRING AMMO INTO THE CLASS!
Hearing and eye protection will be provided if needed.

Introduction to Rifle Safety, Parts, and Operation
Introduction to Ammunition and the Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting
Introduction to Rifle Cleaning, Storage, and Training Opportunities
Move to the Range
Introduction to Rifle Shooting From the Benchrest Position
Final thoughts

NRA Guide to the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook
NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation Completion Certificate
NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure
NRA Basic Firearm Training Program brochure
Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program booklet
Basic Practical Rocker and Basic Practical Instruction

$25 range fee will be collected at the range.
