Prerequisites:

• MUST complete the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course – Instructor Led Training
• MUST have an extensive pistol shooting experience with single and double action revolvers and semi-auto pistols
• MUST complete and pass the pre-course qualification checklist and live-fire qualification
• MUST have excellent teaching skills
• Must attend and pass both days

Length of course: 16 hours

This course consists of 2 parts:

1. Basic Instructor Training (6 hours)
2. NRA Pistol Instructor Training (10 hours)

Course Goal: The NRA Instructor Training Course teach candidates how to teach firearm safety and shooting skills to others using the NRA instructional methodologies and training
materials.

Course Schedule:

Day 1: Basic Instructor Training (BITS)will be conducted at our location. Be prepared to conduct teach-backs to the class. You MUST demonstrate exceptional teaching skills in order to pass. Address will be sent in an e-mail. This portion will cover NRA policies, procedures, and teaching methodologies. Be prepared to conduct teach-backs to the class. There will be a 1-hour lunch break. There will be an exam which you must pass with a 90% or better. Once completed, we will start on the Basic Pistol Instructor Course.

Day 2: Basics of Pistol Instructor Course will start at our location. You will teaching and coaching real beginner student volunteers who will also assist with evaluating your performance. When you attend the NRA Basic Pistol Course I highly recommend you take copious notes to assist you with your presentations to the class. There will be a 1-hour lunch break before moving to the range for the live-fire portion of the class. After the live-fire, we will meet back in class to complete the course and take the exam. You must pass the exam with 90% or better to pass the course.

• NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting – Instructor Led Training Lesson Plan
• Course completion certificate upon payment of Instructor fee to the NRA
